Publisher review:Evolution.Net MVP Framework is an attempt to define and create a complete framework for the development of software systems using the DotNet platform, based on the MVP (Model-View-Presenter) pattern. The project Evolution.Net is an attempt to define and create a complete framework for the development of software systems using the DotNet platform, based on the MVP (Model-View-Presenter) pattern. The MVP is an variation of the well known MVC (Model-View-Controller) pattern, with an more decentralized aspect, been applicable to technologies that implement event treatment, like desktop apps programming and, more recently, with the introduction of the new “web like desktop” programming model, more specifically, in ASP.Net and JSF (Java Server Faces). The motivation of the project was the inability to find a basic framework implementing the MVP pattern, like famous projects such as Jakarta Struts for Java and Maverick.Net, or CastleRail for DotNet, all of them using the MVC pattern. So, Evolution.Net aims to be one of the first, if not really the first, Open-Source framework for DotNet using the MVP pattern, in way to provide base for a simpler and quicker application development on the DotNet platform. In order to do that, it should and will use/incorporate various other free (and desirably open too) libraries/frameworks, like Castle.Net, NHibernate, among many others, always with the purpose to ease the work of developers during the development and, specially, during maintenance, a stage that tends to be slow and complicated. The desirable characteristics of the project are:Relating to the framework architecture: - Based on the MVP pattern - Internationalization support - Extensible - Testable - Standardized, but Configurable - Offer support for maintaining data operation history - Offer support for synchronizing distributed data bases Relating to what is intended to be done: - A complete DotNet 2.0 framework - Perform background tasks - Transaction management - Data manipulation - Validation - Field masking - Security and access control - ORM mapping (using something like NHibernate) - Build management (using something like NAnt, MSBuild) - Repository management (do or use something like Maven) - Test support (using some XUnit and integrating in Visual Studio) - Internationalization - Incorporate/Add libraries for: - Zip - PDF - Calendar (Holyday calculations) - Image management - AJAX - Etc… - Create/Extend components - Define interfaces for component extension - Cross-browser components - Client validation - Open-Source with LGPL license - Automatization - Code generation - Configuration automatization - Project skeleton generation - Vi
